Rare disease request form
This form is used to investigate possible rare anaemias. Panels include:
R92 panel – Rare anaemias of likely monogenic aetiology – for example, Diamond-Blackfan anaemia

HEA/HLA typing
This form is used to test both human erythrocyte antigen (HEA) typing (56 antigens) and HLA typing. This testing is done as part of a piece of work which will hopefully allow for better matching of donated blood in the future. See this patient information leaflet for more information.
Genotyping of red cell disorders
This is used to confirm the underlying disease genotype of the patient (e.g. number of mutations or identifying the specific genetic mutations in alpha/beta thalassaemia). Can be useful to diagnose haemoglobinopathies in transfused patients.
